Shri
Subrahmbanya-Shri Vishnu temple is an ancient temple, located in Mattanur -
Pariyaram, Kannur Distirct, Kerala. This holy
abode carries the heritage of classical mural paintings
with stark
resemblance to Ajanta paintings.
Famous personalities like archaeologist Shri K. K. Muhammed (former Director, ASI),
late Shri. K. K
Warrier (Mural Expert), K. K. Marar
(Artist), M. G Sasibhooshan( Historian) undoubtedly
validated that the age of this temple dates back to
an uncertain point in history. The style employed
in the mural paintings of this ancient temple is entirely different from
that of the traditional mural paintings of Kerala, all
the while maintaining similarities with Ajanta mural style. This temple
holds a significant space in Indian history and stays as an immortal medium to
recollect and reconnect the forgotten moments in history.
Historically, this temple had
a connection with Mooshika Vamsa and was carried through Kottayam Kingdom (Chirakkal). Presently, temple committee and Pariyarathappan
Kshetra Chaitanyarjava Paripalana Sabha Charitable Trust
are taking care of the maintenance of this temple and are putting their best efforts
towards its protection and renovation. We value your support and help and
are indebted to
you for your sincere contribution.
